Chaos Head

This head is adorned with drawings I did while confused and miserable.  My mental state was all over the place – my life and habits a mess.  As I bring order to my life I wanted to depict the feeling of disorientation I lived in.  The outer shell of this head has the constant noise that was happening inside, the head enlarged to exaggerate the mental prison of my own creation.  To be inside the mask is dark, very little light gets through its beady eyes, and you are left to confront the exposed chicken wire which acts as the structure.  It is also heavy and awkward to keep steady, so when initially wearing it it was not too difficult, but the longer I walked around in it the more fatigued I became. This head does not have a mouth because I was unable and unwilling to talk about what I was going through and how I was feeling, and it has no ears because I was not listening to reason or able to hear any other way.  All people can see on the outside is the constant noise, on the inside you can barely see out; a prisoner of the noise.

All these drawings were done between 2022-2025, a time I didn’t feel grounded nor did I have a handle on life.  As I ground myself and make sense of the pieces of my life I wanted to make a project to pay homage to this version of myself and her foggy mindset.
